Alaska Glacier Adventures
Southeast, Alaska

Welcome !

Alaska Glacier Adventures is based in Craig, Alaska,
which is a short 1/2 hr. floatplane ride due west of Ketchikan
on the west coast of Prince of Wales Island.
We offer fully guided fishing and hunting trips from our brand new 38' custom-built, twin-diesel, high-speed, fishing vessel the "GLACIER".

OVERNIGHT, REMOTE, ALL-INCLUSIVE FISHING TRIPS:

We will head out to the fishing grounds the morning of the first day on the "GLACIER" and you will fish the following 4 days for Halibut, King Salmon, Lingcod, Yelloweye Rockfish, Dungeness Crab, and Giant Alaska Spot Prawns.
Many other fish are available to catch and the sight-seeing opportunities abound with frequent sightings of Humpback Whales, Killer Whales, Bears, Sea Otters, Sea Lions, Seals, Puffins, Cormorants, Gulls, Murres, etc.

River Fishing, Kayaking & Bear Viewing are all available during the trip.
This high-volume fishing trip will find you dining on your fresh catch of shrimp, crab and fish and the rest will be professionally vacuum-sealed and frozen at sea. Your processed, frozen and boxed catch will be transported to a holding facility while you enjoy the many sight-seeing opportunities Craig has to offer.
The boat can accommodate 4 clients and the trips are all-inclusive. Included in the package is all fish processing, all gear/tackle, taxes, licenses, lodging and meals for the 4 days on the boat.

Not included is airfare to and from Craig and any expenses incurred in Craig after the trip is over.

In one recent year, the biggest Halibut were 245, 215, 205, 180, 160 and many smaller. The biggest King Salmon were 36, 34, 32, 30 and many smaller. The best Lingcod were 52, 49, 48, 45 and many more. The best Yelloweye Rockfish were 20, 18, 16 and many smaller. The best Silver Salmon was 16, 14 and many smaller. There were many Bears spotted and loads of Shrimp and Crab were eaten. This "once in a lifetime trip" is far more than just a fishing trip.

HUNTING TRIPS

Spring Wolf Hunts-These boat based hunts occur in the early spring when the wolves are hungry and readily come to the call. We also run a trapline for them so you have two methods of harvesting them. The hunts are all 2-3 hunters per guide. Fishing is included on the hunts and eating fresh caught seafood is a big bonus.

Spring Hunts for the Giant Island Black Bear-These boat based hunts occur from late April until early June when the bears have the best hair, the days are long, the fishing is good and the bears are rutting. Prince of Wales has some of the biggest bears in the world and regularly put bears in the record book. These bears have recently been reclassified to "Island Bears" by Safari Club International because they are so much bigger.

Fall Goat Hunts-These are mainly fly-in hunts to a high alpine lake that finds you in the midst of goat country. A large base camp is set up on the shore of the lake with lots of whole food, propane heat, large tents, cots, chairs, tables, etc. We also have smaller spike camps if we need to spike out farther from the lake. The success rate has averaged 100% shooting opportunity for those who take the hunt seriously, come mentally and physically prepared and have the proper gear.
Weather also plays an important role but realize the hunt is very physically demanding and likely one of the toughest and most rewarding hunts you will ever do.

Winter Seaduck/Sitka Blacktail Deer Hunts-These boat based Nov./Dec. hunts are during the rut for monster bucks on Prince of Wales island which has many of the top trophies in the record books. This is also the best time of year to hunt the beautiful Seaducks when we target Harlequins, Oldsquaws, Surf-Scoters, White-wing Scoters, Common Scoters, Barrow's Goldeneye, Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Hooded Mergansers, Common Mergansers, Red-Breasted Mergansers, and the occasional Common Eider and King Eider which can show up late in the season. It is not uncommon at all to go home with 10-12 different species of ducks. The shrimping and crabbing are included on all boat-based trips.

-The BOAT "Glacier". This 38' custom-built, high-speed, twin-diesel, fiberglass hull boat is equipped with all the latest technology including 2 generators and inverters for 110volt AC power, a big stove for plenty of heat, a large bathroom with shower and lots of hot water, BBQ, crab and shrimp pot propane cooker, professional vacuum sealer, chest freezer, 10 shrimp pots, crab pots and all the fishing gear/tackle you can imagine.

The boat can accommodate 4 clients and has large comfortable bunks for a great nights rest after a long day of fishing or hunting. The boat travels upwards of 30 m.p.h. so you will not waste your time traveling but rather increase your fishing and hunting opportunities by traveling fast.
